A thread lift, often called the “lunch time face lift”, is a minimally invasive procedure performed by the skilled team at Macquarie Cosmetic Medicine. The procedure is designed to raise the brows, cheeks, neck and jowls and soften lines around the mouth and nose. Thread lifts are a popular choice for those looking for a treatment to minimise the signs of aging with natural looking results.
During a thread lift, Dr Bright uses a needle to insert fine threads beneath the skin. The threads are inserted in a transverse pattern, where they can be raised and adjusted in order to lift the skin to a more flattering position. Each individual thread is secured to the tissues of the face. Over time, the threads become secure as the body’s own collagen begins to anchor them into place. As a thread lift only requires a small opening in the skin, there is little or no scarring following treatment.
The procedure is performed with local anaesthetic, although some patients prefer to have the procedure performed while they are under sedation. The whole process takes approximately one hour, with some recovery time if sedation is used. Tissue will grow around the threads over the first few weeks, creating a permanent line of supporting tissue.
In the following years after the procedure, you may want to undergo further adjustments to renew the results.
After the procedure, you will have tape on your face for a minimum of three days, however five days is preferable. Once the tape has come off, you will be free to return to normal activities. We will provide you a sling to sleep in for the first two weeks.
