PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Skin Rejuvenation Sydney
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) skin rejuvenation, also commonly known as the Vampire Facial, is an aesthetic therapy that utilises the healing potential of the patient’s own blood to help stimulate skin cells and initiate the tissue regeneration process.
PRP therapy can be used on many areas of the face and body, such as around the eyes, cheeks and neck as well as beneath and along the jawline and décolletage.
During this therapy, the platelets within your blood plasma are activated to release healing proteins called growth factors. These growth factors can perform a range of functions, including:
- Increasing collagen production, which subsequently means wrinkles and folds become smoother and less visible
- Healing connective tissue
- Improving skin elasticity
- Stimulating the wound healing process
During this procedure, our medical professionals will collect a blood sample from you, similar to having a blood test. The sample is then placed in a spinning centrifuge to separate the main components of the blood and produce the platelet rich plasma. The preparation usually takes approximately 10-15 minutes.
At Macquarie Cosmetic Medicine, our surgeons can utilise two methods to deliver this powerful skin rejuvenation treatment.
Our team will consult with you as to which approach suits your needs, desires and lifestyle:
With this method, we gently utilise a microneedling system to prepare the skin of your face, neck and jawline. Most patients report that this treatment is quite comfortable, and as such topical anaesthetic cream is generally not required. The PRP material is then applied to these areas, and the microneedle roller is used to deliver this plasma deep into the skin.
For this method, our aesthetic professionals will apply topical anaesthetic cream to ensure your comfort throughout your entire treatment. Targeted injections of plasma will then be delivered to multiple areas around your face, neck and jawline, deep within the dermal layer.
This treatment generally takes half an hour to perform, and it is quite normal for your face to feel hot, puffy and slightly bruised for several days after treatment.
Within a few days, your skin may feel smoother, your pores may appear more refined, and many patients report a healthy glowing appearance. You may return to your daily activities immediately and makeup can be applied immediately after this procedure.
