At Macquarie Cosmetic Medicine located in Sydney, we offer a range of clinical peel solutions to cater to the unique needs of our diverse client base. Clinical peels are designed to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, décolletage, neck or hands. After a thorough diagnosis, a chemical solution is applied to the skin. This causes the skin to exfoliate and eventually peel off in a controlled manner.
Chemical peels can improve a number of appearance issues such as fine lines, oily skin, wrinkles, scarring, and acne. In order to select the right peel for your skin type and requirements, we recommend visiting Macquarie Cosmetic Medicine at our Sydney location for a skin consultation.
The treatment itself is non-surgical and it works by removing the outer damaged cells whilst stimulating new collagen and elastin production to improve complexion.
At Macquarie Cosmetic Medicine, we stock a range of chemical peel solutions. We highly recommend two clinical peels that we find most beneficial.
1) Level II Peel
A trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel treatment exfoliates the skin and is designed to refine, hydrate and refresh. Varying its strength allows removal of some or all of the epidermis to expose the papillary dermis.
When TCA is applied to the skin, it causes the top layers of cells to dry up and peel off over a period of several days to one week. When the old skin is peeled off, it exposes a new layer of undamaged skin, which has a smoother texture and more even colour.
2) Level III Peel
The croton oil peel (also called modified phenol peel or Hetter peel) is a highly regarded, well-established anti-ageing chemical peel that penetrates deeply into the skin. The peel is designed to address wrinkles and negative textual changes that occur in the skin with time, as well as environmental factors like smoking and exposure to harmful UV rays.
The Croton oil peel requires 10-28 days of recovery time depending on the depth of the peel. The modified peel can be done on the entire face for an overall skin rejuvenation, or only in localised areas such as under the eyes or around the mouth.
